This Is Not a Government Office or Records Custodian. Burlington Residents Directory is a private reference service. We cannot retrieve or certify a record, confirm who lives at an address, or change an entry in an official database. Direct each request to the office that maintains the record. For emergencies, call 911. For stalking or harassment concerns, contact local police.

Choose the Burlington Record Custodian

The correct office depends on the record. For local vital records, business certificates or DBAs, voter and street-list matters, town archives, dog licenses, and town election records, start with the Burlington Town Clerk: 29 Center Street, Burlington, MA 01803; phone 781-270-1660; fax 781-238-4692. Town Hall hours are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Wednesday 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Friday 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Town Clerk is not the custodian for every record. Deed, plan, lien, and recorded-land copy questions go to the Middlesex South Registry of Deeds and its MassLandRecords portal. Civil and criminal matters for Burlington go through Woburn District Court and MassCourts; probate, estate, guardianship, divorce, and family records go to Middlesex Probate and Family Court South-Woburn. The Town Clerk can direct local requests but does not replace the Registry or a court clerk.

For the common research routes:

  • Address, parcel, owner, permit, or deed question: use the Burlington street directory route through GIS, Assessors, permits, and Middlesex South recorded land.
  • Older street lists, directories, newspaper, or household history: use the Burlington city directory collections and the Miles Historical Room.
  • One-name record question: use the Burlington resident lookup route and verify a match with the named custodian.
  • Offline municipal material: send a written, focused request to the actual Burlington custodian under the Massachusetts Public Records Law, M.G.L. c. 66, ยง 10, and ask for the preferred format and fee estimate.
  • Town archival research: contact the Burlington Town Archives. One reference hour is free; additional search time is $20 per hour, and calling first is recommended.
